Information about subscriptions, club competitions and league matches

Step 3 of Boris's Roadmap is due to start on Monday 17th May. It is expected that larger groups will be able to gather at clubs and inside catering will be permitted with restrictions. The Government is expected to confirm the country is moving to Step 3 on Monday 10th May. Further guidance for bowling clubs will then be issued by Bowls England and we are expecting that we will be able to re-open the Bower for members. The toilets and changing rooms are only accessible at the moment.

Club Competitions

Entry lists for all the club competitions are currently posted on club notice boards. The deadline for entering the competitions was originally given as Sunday the 16th May. However restriction of access to the Bower has perhaps meant that not everyone has so far had the opportunity to enter their names. Given that we expect full access to the Bower to be granted from Monday 17th May we have decided to extend the deadline for entering club competitions to Sunday 23rd May. So, any member who wishes to participate in club competitions and has not yet entered their name should do so before that date. Alternatively, contact myself (07879084982) or either of the two Match Secretaries, Alan Smith for Men - 07505125101, or Hazel Jefferson for Ladies - 07791480978, and we will ensure your names are entered.

League Matches

The current position regarding league matches is as follows:

the Men's Stan Bragg League commences on Monday the 7th June with an away trip to Brampton (2pm);
the Mixed Eden Valley League will not be starting until after the 21st June and fixtures have not yet been issued;
the Ladies Cumbria League commences on Wednesday the 2nd June with an away trip to Stanwix (2pm);
the Men's Carliol League commences on Thursday the 20th May with a home match against Stanwix (7pm);
the Men's Carliol Over 60's League commences on Friday the 21st May with a home match against West End (2pm).
For all the leagues the Team Captains have all the names of those members wishing to be considered for selection, Notices will be posted prior to each match for members to indicate their availability. Selection is the responsibility of the Team Captains.

Can I remind everyone please that uniform is required for both club competitions and league matches.

The club is extremely grateful to all members who paid their full subscription in 2020 and for all those that did there is no subscription to pay in 2021. Just a reminder to anyone who did not pay their 2020 subscription that the subscription for 2021 is now due.

I hope everyone is enjoying getting back to playing, we have been getting around 20 players each club night so far. Well done!
