Latest message from the Club Secretary outlining new arrangements

The latest Bowls England (BE) guidance relating to the move to Step 3 of the Government's roadmap, effective from Monday 17th May, has been received. From that date all restrictions on formats and numbers for organised activity are removed and car sharing, spectators, and indoor hospitality are permitted. The changes relating to Wetheral BC from Monday are as follows:

The pre-booking system currently in place is now discontinued. Our thanks to Hazel Jefferson and Alan Smith for all their hard work in running the system  Henceforth for casual informal play members should now make their own arrangements as to when and with whom to play, bearing in mind that there should not be more than 30 people on the green at any one time. Members should continue to avoid sharing equipment if at all possible and ensure proper sanitisation if this is unavoidable. It may be the case with Jacks and Pushers. Also remember to consult the club's website or the diary in the Bower to ensure there are no league matches or club competitions arranged for when you intend to play.
For organised activity (league and friendly matches, club competitions and Tuesday and Friday roll-ups) a maximum of 48 players are now allowed on the green, although such numbers in those events are highly unlikely at this club nowadays. On roll-up nights please ensure you arrive at least 10 minutes before play at 6.30pm.
Members can now use the Bower (Clubhouse) and hospitality facilities but we must adhere to legal gathering limits and the wider Government guidance for hospitality. In effect this means there will be only 5 tables available in the Bower, each seating a maximum of 6 people. The maximum number of people in the Bower at any one time will therefore be 30 (other than members serving). In the event that there are more than 30 people present, excess numbers will be seated outside the Bower. Table service will be in operation as it was outside. Face coverings should be worn at all times when indoors until a person is seated.
Above all, it is incumbent on every member to act sensibly and responsibly. Social distancing rules must be followed and everyone should maintain good hygiene standards.

Thank you everyone,

John Sibley
Secretary.
